This collection of photographs was made by j. maya luz during her mother's illness and subsequent death. The images were taken throughout Mexico 1994 - 2000.

  

In grief, she found spaces that allowed for solace and stillness. 

 

"The poignancy of that experience transformed raw emotions into a larger awareness of emotional life, and eventually this awareness grew into something bigger and more wondrous than my grief. The connection to self-understanding and love, that was inspired so long ago by spaces and icons, is what I am defining as Godspace."
